As the number of traded vehicles increases, many MG HS owners have expressed satisfaction with the powertrain but find that the throttle response is not sensitive enough. In some situations, the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and manual transmission also experience early shifting and delayed downshifting, resulting in a slow response to acceleration, which has been a significant issue for these owners.
To address this problem, a 4S throttle controller has been installed and tested on the MG HS.

Dual-clutch transmissions will prepare for the next gear shift in advance, so the speed of shifting up is very fast. However, the speed of shifting down may not be fast enough in certain situations, such as sudden acceleration or climbing, and the delay in downshifting can lead to a moment of heavy throttle, low RPM in high gear, which can easily trigger LSPI, the most feared low-speed pre-ignition for direct injection engines, and cause long-term damage to the engine.
Therefore, the best way is to manually shift down before acceleration, allowing the RPM to increase before accelerating, or use a 4S throttle controller to let the ECU know in advance about the need for downshifting during sudden acceleration.
